Sensitive committing of a loved one's ashes to the sea

A friend of ours asked a favor of us several years ago. He expressed what turned out to be one of his last wishes: that his ashes be committed to the sea he loved. The ceremonial cruise we took to fulfill his request was a memorable experience for his family, friends, and ourselves. It helped to inspire our wish to offer this service through Sun Line Cruises.

We chose a spot near Anclote Key where he and his family had spent many happy hours. We drifted silently, listening to the natural sounds of the Gulf. Family members and friends spoke or read inspirational pieces. His wife committed his ashes and guests floated flowers as the sun set and shorebirds soared.

We recorded the time and bearings of the scattering, and provided our friend's relatives with a beautiful certificate; a gesture that was greatly appreciated.

Sun Line Cruise has since performed numerous scatterings at sea, and knows you will appreciate the professionalism and compassion of our Captains and Crew Members. We suggest that scatterings take place either in the morning or at sunset, as these are the most peaceful and private times out in the Gulf.
